BAND

The Petawawa Legion Community Band (PLCB) is a volunteer community band of about 40 members, making music in the Town of Petawawa, Ontario, Canada (see maps below) since January 25, 1978. Petawawa is located on the Ottawa River, about 150 km northwest of Ottawa, along the Ontario-Quebec border. In addition to Petawawa, our members come from places all over the Upper Ottawa Valley, from Pembroke to Deep River.

The PLCB is sponsored by The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 517, Petawawa and the Town of Petawawa. The Legion generously supplies us with instruments, uniforms, and a rehearsal hall. Since 1978 we have also offered Band School classes to the community, and many of our present members started their band experience in this manner.

We are both a Legion and a Community band, as our official title indicates. Thus, while we provide musical and parade services for Legion events, we also bring music to the community at large. See the section on "What We Do" for further information.

Members of the Petawawa Legion Community Band and Band School are from all walks of life and all age-groups, from public-school students to senior citizens; all you need to join the organisation is a love of music and a modicum of musical knowledge.

The current Musical Director of the Petawawa Legion Community Band is Sarah Coles.

Our band chairman, Verlie Whitlock, can be contacted for general inquiries, and requests for future performances:
