With Christmas just around the corner we are ramping up our collection of food items, toys and cash to help ensure those of our community that can use a little boost to make their Christmas brighter gets the help. Every little bit is appreciated, so please help us to help them. Donations can be dropped off at the legion branch or at donation boxes around the town. Thank you to all for your assistance.

New Years Eve tickets will go on sale on Monday 5 December at the bar. Your ticket gets you an evening dancing away the night to DJ Jack and Cynthia, champagne toast at midnight, party favours and a late night hot and cold lunch. Tickets are the same price as last year. Get your group together and plan to attend for your night of fun. Everyone is welcome to come. Age of majority.

Our Poppy campaign was very successful this year thanks to the community. Last years donations were used to help veterans pay for hydro and heat and a few medical devices. We were also able to make a sizable donation to Deep River Hospital to help them to purchase telemetry machines so patients being monitored for heart ailments do not have to be confined to their room. A donation was also made to Renfrew Hospital for a healing room for patients undergoing treatment. The previous year we made a sizeable donation to the MRI at Pembroke Hospital. We were also able to hold a dinner around Remembrance Day that veterans could attend for free. The Poppy fund is held in trust and can not be used for legion expenses like hydro etc. The funds go to aid veterans directly and through donations that would benefit them.

Sunday Euchre continues weekly starting at 130pm. If you would like to play just show up as no partners are required as you change every game. You do not need to be a legion member to play. Winners for 27 November: 1st Earla Watson 79-4 2nd Lillian Larouche 77-3 and 3rd Lou McEvoy 76-4.

Join us on the web at www.petawawalegion.ca or on facebook at Petawawa Royal Canadian Legion Br 517.
