Kazimier Sumujlo began his trumpet playing career at age 11 in a furniture factory band. He subsequently studied trumpet playing in Poland at the Poznan Lyceum of Music, in Ottawa at the University of Ottawa, graduating in 1974 with a BMus in trumpet performance, and at Queens University Teacher's College.

Mr. Samujlo taught high school bands for over 30 years and conducted choirs and band for 10 years including the Polish Paderewski Choir, the Nepean Community Choir and the Petawawa Legion Community Band.

Kaz has played trumpet in the Ottawa Symphony, at the Ottawa Arts Centre, Ottawa Valley Festival Orchestra, Pembroke Legion Swing Band and has toured extensively performing in Poland, Russia, Germany, Italy, Sweden and Cuba.

Currently Kaz is the Eb soprano cornet soloist with the Maple Leaf Brass Band. He is a founding member and 1st trumpet player of the Manotick Brass Ensemble, which has enjoyed considerable success in the last 8 years touring and recording two CDs. (See: http://www.manotickbrass.com.)

Mr. Samujlo is also a professional piano tuner and accomplished accordion player.
